The SSI Dive Guide and the SSI Divemaster are the first steps into the world of professional diving at SSI. The Dive Guide and the Divemaster are considered as experts in diving issues and as specialists in diving. This course will provide you with the knowledge you need to meet the expectations such as professionalism, exemplary behavior and the skills to control and monitor diving activities of certified divers. The Divemaster also assists diving instructors during training.

The SSI Dive Guide program offers every candidate the knowledge and skills necessary to accompany and guide certified divers on recreational dives. Dive guides are allowed to guide certified divers during recreational dives. Professional Dive Guides in active status may also:

  • Train, monitor and certify the SSI snorkeling program.
  • Qualify for the SSI Divemaster Level by successfully completing the Science of Diving Specialty program.

The SSI Divemaster Level recognizes candidates who have the knowledge and training to perform the tasks of a certified assistant.
